Additional information
Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH)'s dosage depends on the condition (225 IU - 450 IU). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. This medication is best injected under the skin (subcutaneous) of the lower abdomen a few inches below your navel. Each day, use the alternate side of your lower abdomen (e.g., left or right) to prevent soreness. Once the dose of medication has been prepared, it should be used immediately. Discard any unused material after use. Do not use your injectable solution if it appears cloudy, lumpy, or discolored. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: This medication may increase the chance of blood clot formation, causing reduction of blood flow to organs or the extremities. Such fertility treatments may increase the chances of having multiple births (i.e., twins). Some women may experience ovarian enlargement associated with abdominal bloating or pain. In most cases, the bloating and pain stop without treatment within 2 or 3 weeks. Treatment can cause a condition called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). With OHSS, too many follicles grow and cause abdominal or pelvic discomfort or pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight gain. Ovarian torsion (twisting of an ovary) may occur. Twisting of the ovary could cause the blood flow to the ovary to be cut off. In addition to its desired action, Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain or cramps, breast tenderness, or constipation. It may cause pain, rash, swelling, or irritation at place of injection. It may cause nausea, diarrhea, headache, sweating, or dizziness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to menotropins or any component of the formulation. Patients with primary ovarian failure (when the ovaries stop functioning normally) as indicated by a high follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) level, or uncontrolled non-gonadal (not related to the reproductive organs) endocrinopathies (disease of the gland) such thyroid, adrenal, pituitary glands should not use Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH). Do not use in case of pituitary (gland) or hypothalamic (part of the brain) tumors, sex hormone-dependent tumors of the reproductive tract and accessory organs (internal reproductive organs), abnormal uterine (womb) bleeding of undetermined origin, ovarian cyst or enlargement not due to polycystic ovary syndrome (a condition in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of the male sex hormone), or pregnancy. Taking Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Pregnant women should not use this product. A treatment with Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Menopur (Menotropins FSH LH)
