Description
Migranal (Dihydroergotamine) is an antimigraine agent. It is typically used to treat migraine (severe headache) attacks. It may also have other uses.

Migranal (Dihydroergotamine)'s dosage depends on the condition (No more than eight sprays of MIGRANAL should be administered during any 24 hour period. The maximum weekly dosage is 24 sprays of MIGRANAL). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Use 1 spray into each nostril. Do not tilt your head back, sniff through your nose, or blow your nose while spraying or immediately after. Use another spray into each nostril 15 minutes after the first sprays, or use as directed by your doctor. After using the medication, you should lie down and relax in a quiet, darkened room. The maximum number of sprays you can use for a single attack is 4 sprays (two in each nostril). You should feel some relief within 30 minutes of using Migranal (Dihydroergotamine). WARNING: This medication should only be used where a clear diagnosis of migraine headaches has been established. In addition to its desired action, Migranal (Dihydroergotamine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause rhinitis (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose), dry mouth, headache. It may cause muscle stiffness, dizziness (weak or unsteady), drowsiness (feeling abnormally sleepy during the day). It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, increased sweating. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dihydroergotamine or any component of the formulation, uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure), some serious heart diseases (ischemic heart disease, angina pectoris, history of heart attack, silent ischemia, or coronary artery vasospasm including Prinzmetal angina), hemiplegic or basilar migraine (a rare form of migraine), severe liver or kidney dysfunction, recent vascular surgery, concurrent use with some medications (includes protease inhibitors, azole antifungals, and some macrolide antibiotics), pregnancy, breastfeeding Taking Migranal (Dihydroergotamine) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Migranal (Dihydroergotamine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
