Description

Mint Acitretin (Acitretin) is an agent typically used for the treatment of severe psoriasis (skin disease that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp) and other skin disorders by adults. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Mint Acitretin  (Acitretin) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with food, preferably with the main meal of the day.

WARNING: Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus. Female patients of childbearing potential should abstain from ethanol or ethanol-containing products during therapy and for 2 months after discontinuation. All patients should be advised not to donate blood during therapy or for 3 years following completion of therapy. All patients must be provided with a medication guide each time acitretin is dispensed. Discontinue if visual changes occur. Use with caution in patients with a history of mental illness.

In addition to its desired action, Mint Acitretin  (Acitretin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause chapped lips, dry mouth, itchy or scaly skin, weak nails, fragile skin
It may cause peeling skin on your hands and feet, hair loss
It may cause dry eyes, discomfort while wearing contact lenses
It may cause dry or runny nose, nosebleeds, joint pain, tight muscles

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acitretin, other similar agents, or any component of the formulation, patients who are pregnant or intend on becoming pregnant during therapy or within 3 years after treatment discontinuation, severe liver or renal (kidney) dysfunction, chronic abnormally elevated blood lipid levels, concomitant use with methotrexate (anticancer agent) or tetracyclines (class of antibiotics)

Taking Mint Acitretin  (Acitretin) during pregnancy is harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
