Description

Monurol (Fosfomycin) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat urinary tract infections. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Monurol (Fosfomycin) is typically given as a single dose. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. The contents of a sachet should be dissolved in a glass of water and taken immediately after its preparation. Always mix with 3 to 4 oz (90 to 120 mL) cool water before ingesting, do not administer in its dry form or mix with hot water. May be administered without regard to meals.
WARNING: Discontinue use and institute supportive measures if hypersensitivity (allergy) occurs. Prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (additional infection) In addition to its desired action, Monurol (Fosfomycin) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, pain, dizziness, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain It may cause vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina), back pain Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to fosfomycin or any component of the formulation
Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
