Description
Movantik (Naloxegol) reduces constipation caused by certain drugs. It is typically used to treat constipation that is caused by prescription pain medicines called opioids (used to treat severe chronic pain), by adults with long-lasting pain that is not caused by active cancer. It may also have other uses.

Movantik (Naloxegol) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after the first meal of the day. WARNING: MOVANTIK may cause severe abdominal pain and/or severe diarrhea. Monitor for development of severe abdominal pain and /or diarrhea symptoms after initiating treatment and discontinue if severe symptoms develop. In addition to its desired action, Movantik (Naloxegol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, excessive sweating, headache, nausea, passing gas. It may cause runny or stuffy nose, stomach pain, vomiting. Contraindications: If you are allergic to naloxegol or any ingredients of the medication, if you have or may have a blockage in the digestive tract (when a blockage stops food and liquids from moving through your digestive tract), concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, ketoconazole). Taking Movantik (Naloxegol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Movantik (Naloxegol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
