Description
Multaq (Dronedarone) is an antiarrhythmic agent. It is typically used to maintain normal heartbeats in certain people with life-threatening rhythm disorders of the atrium (the upper chambers of the heart that allow blood to flow into the heart). It may also have other uses.

Multaq (Dronedarone) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer this drug with morning and evening meal. WARNING: If heart failure (a condition that develops when your heart doesn't pump enough blood for your body's needs) develops or worsens, consider the suspension or discontinuation of MULTAQ. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. In addition to its desired action, Multaq (Dronedarone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion (pain or discomfort in the stomach associated with difficulty in digesting food). It may cause hypersensitivity reaction, asthenia (abnormal physical weakness or lack of energy). It may cause bradycardia (abnormally slow heart action), QTc prolongation (a heart rhythm condition that can potentially cause fast, chaotic heartbeats), weakness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dronedarone or any component of the formulation, some serious heart problems, concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., grapefruit juice, itraconazole, clarithromycin, erythromycin), coadministration with drugs that prolong QT interval (drugs that cause irregularity of the electrical activity of the heart such as phenothiazine antipsychotics, tricyclic antidepressants, certain oral macrolide antibiotics, and Class I and III antiarrhythmics), severe liver impairment, patients with liver or lung toxicity related to the previous use of amiodarone, pregnancy, breastfeeding. Taking Multaq (Dronedarone) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Multaq (Dronedarone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Multaq (Dronedarone)
