Description
Neostigmine (Neostigmine) helps to improve muscle strength. It is typically used for the symptomatic treatment (therapy that eases the symptoms without addressing the basic cause of the disease) of myasthenia gravis (weakness and rapid fatigue of any of the muscles under your voluntary control). It may also have other uses.

Neostigmine (Neostigmine)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Neostigmine (Neostigmine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus). Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism (a condition in which an overactive thyroid gland, found in the neck, is producing an excessive amount of thyroid hormones that circulate in the blood). Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer disease (a condition in which painful sores or ulcers develop in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine). Use with caution in patients with epilepsy (a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal). In addition to its desired action, Neostigmine (Neostigmine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause low blood pressure, tachycardia (fast heart rate). It may cause skin rash, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness. It may cause urinary urgency (an immediate unstoppable urge to urinate), allergic reactions like skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to neostigmine or any component of the formulation, peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum, the lining of the inner wall of the abdomen and cover of the abdominal organs) or mechanical obstruction (a partial or complete blockage) of the intestine. Taking Neostigmine (Neostigmine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
