Description
Nix Creme Rinse (Permethrin) is an antiparasitic agent. It is typically used to treat head lice infections. It acts by destroying both the lice and their eggs and prevents reinfestation for up to 14 days after initial application. It may also have other uses.

Nix Creme Rinse (Permethrin) is typically used as one application. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. If you still see live lice or nits on the 7th day (or after) following the first application, NIX Creme Rinse should be applied a second time, in the same manner as the first treatment. Shake well before using. Apply immediately after hair is shampooed (without conditioner), rinsed, and towel-dried. Apply enough product to saturate hair and scalp (especially behind ears and on nape of neck). Leave on hair for 10 minutes (but no longer) before rinsing with warm water. Remove nits with fine-tooth comb. Protect eyes with towel. WARNING: Suitable for use on children over 2 years old. For external use only. When using this product, avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, vagina and other mucous membranes, wounds and broken skin. If contact occurs, rinse with water. Do not use on infants <2 months of age. Treatment may temporarily exacerbate the symptoms of itching, redness, and swelling. Discontinue use if hypersensitivity occurs. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before asking a health professional. In addition to its desired action, Nix Creme Rinse (Permethrin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause local discomfort (scalp), localized burning, localized numbness, tingling of skin It may cause pruritus, redness, skin rash (scalp), stinging of the skin, localized edema Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Permethrin, pyrethroid, pyrethrin, or any component of the formulation. Taking Nix Creme Rinse (Permethrin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method.
