Description
Ocuflox (Ofloxacin) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat eye infections such as bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Ocuflox (Ofloxacin) is typically given as one to two drops in the affected eye(s) every two to four hours for the first 2 days and then four times a day for a total of 8 days. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Wash your hands before using the eye drops to avoid introducing new bacteria into the eye. Tilt your head back and look towards the ceiling. With your index finger, gently pull the lower eyelid down and away from the eye to form a pouch. Apply one drop into the pouch but do not allow the tip of the container to touch the eye or areas around the eye. Gently apply pressure to the inner corner of the eye (at the bridge of the nose) for about 30 seconds. This prevents the medication from dripping down through the tear duct and being swallowed to be absorbed by the body, which could cause you to experience some side effects. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Contact lenses should not be worn during treatment of eye infections. The overgrowth of bacteria that are not affected by This medication may occur and cause a new eye infection. In addition to its desired action, Ocuflox (Ofloxacin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause blurred vision, burning, redness, itching, dryness, tearing, or stinging of the eye, and eye/eyelid swelling. It may cause dizziness, nausea, and swelling of the face. It may cause sensation of something in your eye and sensitivity of eye to light. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin, other quinolones (same antibiotic class), or any component of the formulation. Taking Ocuflox (Ofloxacin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Ocuflox (Ofloxacin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Ocuflox (Ofloxacin)
