Description

Oracort (Triamcinolone) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used for the temporary relief of symptoms from mouth sores due to injury. It works by reducing the swelling, itching, and pain that can occur with mouth sores. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Oracort (Triamcinolone) is typically used two to three times, preferably after meals. At least one application should be at bedtime so that the medication can be in contact with the lesion overnight. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. To apply, press a small dab (about 6 mm) to the lesion until a smooth, slippery, thin film develops. You may need to apply a larger amount to cover larger lesions. Do not rub it in. For best results, apply enough dental paste to just coat the lesion with a thin film. If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days, call your doctor. WARNING: Patients with tuberculosis, peptic ulcer or diabetes mellitus should not be treated with any corticosteroid preparation without the advice of the patient's physician. The small amount of steroid released when Oracort (Triamcinolone) is used as recommended makes overall effects within the body very unlikely. However, this may happen if the medication is used over a long period of time.
In addition to its desired action, Oracort (Triamcinolone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause burning, itching, irritation, dryness, or redness of the treated area may occur. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to triamcinolone or any component of the formulation, fungal, viral, or bacterial infections of the mouth or throat. Taking Oracort (Triamcinolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Oracort (Triamcinolone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Oracort (Triamcinolone)
