Description
Orgalutran (Ganirelix) is typically used together with other medications to treat infertility (not being able to get pregnant). It is typically used to prevent premature ovulation (early release of eggs from the ovary) in women having fertility treatment. It may also have other uses.

Orgalutran (Ganirelix) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Treatment with Orgalutran should be started under the supervision of a fertility specialist. Orgalutran is given as a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection in the thigh or stomach. The injection site should be changed every day to lessen possible injection site reactions. If your doctor or nurse decides you can give the injections yourself. WARNING: Hypersensitivity reactions, may occur with the first dose, use is not recommended in patients with severe allergic conditions. Use with caution in patients with signs and symptoms of other allergic conditions. In addition to its desired action, Orgalutran (Ganirelix) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, nausea, tiredness, headache. It may cause pelvic pain (the lower part of the abdomen located between the hip bones), vaginal bleeding, shortness of breath. It may cause headaches, redness, pain or swelling at injection site. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ganirelix or any component of the formulation, hypersensitivity to similar agent, known or suspected pregnancy. Taking Orgalutran (Ganirelix) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Orgalutran (Ganirelix) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Orgalutran (Ganirelix)
