Description
Otixal (Ciprofloxacin Fluocinolone) contains a combination of an antibiotic and a topical anti-inflammatory agent. It is typically used to treat ear infections. It may also have other uses.
Additional information
Otixal (Ciprofloxacin Fluocinolone) is typically twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. For otic use only, not for injection or ophthalmic use. Prior to use, warm solution by holding container in hands for 1 to 2 minutes. Patient should lie down with affected ear upward. Administer into ear canal. Gently pump tragus 4 times to facilitate penetration into the middle ear. Patients should remain on side for at least 1 minute to allow penetration of solution. WARNING: prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (additional infection). If superinfection occurs, discontinue use and institute appropriate alternative therapy. In addition to its desired action, Otixal (Ciprofloxacin Fluocinolone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause application site discharge It may cause infection It may cause headaches, dizziness it may cause ear itching Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, other fluoroquinolones, fluocinolone, other corticosteroids, or any component of the formulation, viral infection of the external ear canal, fungal ear infections. Taking Otixal (Ciprofloxacin Fluocinolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
