Description
Pediapred (Prednisolone) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used to reduce inflammation in many parts of the body such as conditions involving swelling and itching (e.g., allergic reactions) or breathing problems that involve inflamed airways. It may also have other uses.

Pediapred (Prednisolone)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for your child. Take this medicine with food to help prevent stomach upset. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Use with caution in patient with high blood sugar levels and heart disease. Prolonged use of corticosteroids may increase the incidence of secondary infection. The use of corticosteroids in the pediatric population might impact the children growth velocity, so it is important to monitor the child growth when he/she is treated with corticosteroids. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Pediapred (Prednisolone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause bloating, diarrhea, gas, heartburn, increased appetite, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, or weight gain. It may cause fatigue, headache, restlessness, sweating, or trouble sleeping. It may cause muscle weakness. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to prednisolone, any component of the formulation, or other corticosteroids, systemic fungal or viral infections, liver disease and administration of live or attenuated viral vaccine.
