Description
PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) is an anti-inflammatory drug from the cortisone family (corticosteroid). It is typically used to treat conditions such as arthritis (the swelling and tenderness of joints), blood/hormone disorders, allergic reactions, skin diseases, eye problems, breathing problems, bowel disorders, cancer, and immune system disorders. It is also used as a test for an adrenal gland (gland found on top of the kidneys) disorder (Cushing’s syndrome). It may also have other uses.
Additional information
PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) is typically used as a single dose or can be given in 2 to 4 divided doses. Dosage depends on the condition being treated. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with extreme caution in patients with strongyloides infections (disease caused by a nematode, or a roundworm), hyperinfection, dissemination (spreading of the infection) and pre-existing psychiatric conditions may be exacerbated by corticosteroid use. In addition to its desired action, PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause adrenal suppression meaning adrenal glands are unable to produce adequate amounts of cortisol (a glucocorticoid responsible for maintaining blood pressure, blood glucose and energy levels during times of physiological stress, such as illness, surgery or injury), fatigue, muscle weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, swelling (edema), headache, dizziness. It may cause mood changes, such as depression, shifts in mood, or personality changes. It may cause trouble falling asleep, infection (after prolonged used), cushingoid appearance (truncal obesity, facial adipose tissue.) It may cause hyperglycemia (increase in blood glucose), eye problems, neuromuscular and skeletal effects (like weak bones, vertebral compression fracture.) Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to dexamethasone or any component of the formulation, systemic fungal infections. Taking PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.PMS Dexamethasone (Dexamethasone)
