Description
PMS Hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrochlorothiazide) is a water pill (diuretic agent). It is typically used for the treatment of edema (water retention) due to heart failure, various forms of renal (kidney) dysfunction or corticosteroid or estrogen (hormone) therapy. It may also have other uses.

PMS Hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrochlorothiazide) is typically given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Administer with or without food and early in day to avoid nocturia (urgency to urinate at night). Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels) can occur, patients at risk include those with renal (kidney) impairment, diabetes, the elderly, and the severely ill. Serum potassium levels must be monitored at frequent intervals especially when dosages are changed or with any illness that may cause renal (kidney) dysfunction. In certain patients with a history of gout (a painful for of joint inflammation), a familial predisposition to gout, or chronic renal failure, gout can be precipitated by hydrochlorothiazide. Prolonged use (≥3 years) may increase the risk of cancer. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur with hydrochlorothiazide. Risk is increased in patients with a history of allergy or bronchial asthma (respiratory disease inflammation). The efficacy of hydrochlorothiazide is limited in patients with a CrCl <30 mL/minute, monitor serum potassium. If given the morning of surgery, hydrochlorothiazide may render the patient volume depleted and blood pressure may be labile during general anesthesia In addition to its desired action, PMS Hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrochlorothiazide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause dizziness, skin rash, fatigue and irregular heartbeat. It may cause high potassium level, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. It may cause leg pain and weakness It may cause hair loss, hypotension (low blood pressure), muscle spasm, blurred vision (transit). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to hydrochlorothiazide, any component of the formulation, or sulfonamide-derived drugs, anuria (failure of the kidneys to produce urine). Taking PMS Hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrochlorothiazide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.
