Description
PMS ISMN (Isosorbide 5 Mononitrate) is an antianginal agent. It is typically used for the treatment (immediate-release only) and prevention of angina pectoris (a condition marked by severe pain in the chest, often also spreading to the shoulders, arms, and neck, owing to an inadequate blood supply to the heart) caused by coronary artery disease. It may also have other uses.

PMS ISMN (Isosorbide 5 Mononitrate)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Appropriate dosing intervals are needed to minimize tolerance development. Tolerance can only be overcome by short periods of nitrate absence from the body. Dose escalation does not overcome this effect. May impair physical or mental abilities, patients must be cautioned about performing tasks that require mental alertness (e.g., operating machinery or driving). These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, PMS ISMN (Isosorbide 5 Mononitrate) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause headaches and dizziness. It may cause anxiety, confusion, depression, malaise, fatigue and drowsiness. It may cause decreased libido (decrease in sexual drive), stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea. It may cause fever, cough and infections Contraindications: Hypersensitivity or severe allergy to isosorbide mononitrate, other nitrates or nitrites, or any component of the formulation, concurrent use with sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil or riociguat. Acute circulatory failure associated with marked hypotension (low blood pressure), postural hypotension (low blood pressure upon standing), myocardial insufficiency due to obstruction (low blood flow due to obstruction), increased intracranial pressure (high pressure in the brain), severe anemia (a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues). Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with PMS ISMN (Isosorbide 5 Mononitrate) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
