Description

PPC Meropenem (Meropenem) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections of the abdomen, skin, and meninges (protective layers of the brain and spinal cord). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

PPC Meropenem (Meropenem) is typically given three times a day. It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. The dosage depends on your condition (usual range: 2 g - 6 g). Meropenem is injected into the veins (intravenous - IV). It may be infused over 15 to 30 minutes. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you.

WARNING: Long-term use of Meropenem may cause it not to work anymore in the future (resistance), more bacteria and fungi to grow (superinfection), and bacteria that do not die (resistance). Meropenem only treats bacterial infections, not viral infections such as the common cold. In the case of kidney disease, the dose should be modified accordingly.

In addition to its desired action, PPC Meropenem (Meropenem) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
It may cause anemia (low number of red blood cells, needed to deliver oxygen to organs).
It may cause fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, vagina, or urinary tract.
It may cause injection site reactions (itching, redness, swelling, or bruising).

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Meropenem, other drugs in the same class, or any component of the formulation. Patients who have experienced anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reactions) to beta-lactams antibiotics (a class of antibiotics) should not use PPC Meropenem (Meropenem).

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with PPC Meropenem (Meropenem) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.PPC Meropenem (Meropenem)
