Proctol Suppository (Hydrocortisone Framycetin Dibucaine Esculin) is typically given as one suppository into the rectum morning and evening and after each bowel movement. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Wash and dry the affected anal area (opening of the rectum outside of the body). Insert one suppository into the anus. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Overusing this product may cause an overgrowth of bacteria that will not be killed. This means that This medication or other medications containing framycetin sulfate may not work for you in the future. Prolonged use of Proctol Suppository (Hydrocortisone Framycetin Dibucaine Esculin) or applying it to open skin or wounds could promote the absorption of Proctol Suppository (Hydrocortisone Framycetin Dibucaine Esculin) into the blood circulation. This can produce effects similar to those seen after taking oral corticosteroid medications for long periods of time (symptoms could include depression, headache, mood swings, rounding of the face).
