Description

Repatha (Evolucumab) is anticholesterol agent. It is typically used for the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol level), high cholesterol levels and prevention of heart events in patients with established heart disease. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Repatha (Evolucumab)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once monthly or once every two weeks in the usual range (140 mg - 240 mg). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food.
WARNING: Hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., water retention, rash,…) have been reported, some requiring discontinuation. Discontinue treatment and initiate supportive treatment in patients who develop signs and symptoms of serious allergic reaction, monitor until symptoms resolve. The packaging may contain dry natural rubber, which is a derivative of latex. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning.
In addition to its desired action, Repatha (Evolucumab) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause hypertension (high blood pressure), dizziness and fatigue It may cause skin rash, high blood sugar levels, stomach infection and nausea.
It may cause injection site reaction, urinary infections, cough and muscle pain.
Contraindications: Serious hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to evolocumab or any component of the formulation.
Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
A treatment with Repatha (Evolucumab) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Repatha (Evolucumab)
