Description
Ridaura (Auranofin) is an antirheumatic agent. It is typically used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (disease that causes inflammation and damage to the joints) by adults. It may also have other uses.

Ridaura (Auranofin) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients with bone marrow depression (reduction of platelets (helps in blood clotting), white blood cells (provides immunity) and red blood cells (carries oxygen)). In addition to its desired action, Ridaura (Auranofin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause skin rash, diarrhea, alopecia (loss hair). It may cause nausea, vomiting, anorexia (lack or loss of appetite for food). It may cause conjunctivitis (eye infection), stomatitis (inflammation inside of the mouth). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Auranofin, bone marrow aplasia (a condition that occurs when your body stops producing enough new blood cells), severe hematologic disorders (disorders which primarily affect the blood & blood-forming organs), exfoliative dermatitis (a disorder of the skin cells), necrotizing enterocolitis (intestinal disease that affects premature infants), pulmonary fibrosis (lung disease that occurs when lung tissue becomes damaged and scarred). Taking Ridaura (Auranofin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Ridaura (Auranofin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
