Description
Sabril (Vigabatrin) is an anticonvulsant agent. It is typically used in combination with other medications to treat complex partial seizures (a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain) by adults and children who are at least 10 years old. It may also have other uses.

Sabril (Vigabatrin) is typically given orally once or twice daily and may be taken with or without food. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with a history of psychosis (an abnormal condition of the mind that results in difficulties determining what is real and what is not real), depression, or behavioral problems. Kidney disease or reduced kidney function may cause Sabril (Vigabatrin) to build up in the body, causing side effects, use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. People over 65 years old may be more at risk of side effects from Sabril (Vigabatrin), use with caution in elderly patients. In addition to its desired action, Sabril (Vigabatrin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause weight gain, skin rash, insomnia (difficulty falling asleep). It may cause constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, fatigue, blurred vision. It may cause dizziness, upper respiratory tract infections. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to vigabatrin or any component of the formulation. Taking Sabril (Vigabatrin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Sabril (Vigabatrin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
