Description
SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone) is an antiarrhythmic agent. It is typically used to treat ventricular arrhythmias (abnormal heartbeats) and atrial fibrillation (heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate.) The drug prevents the recurrence of life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias and produces a modest reduction of sudden deaths in high-risk patients. It may also have other uses.

SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone) is typically used one to three times per day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Amiodarone can be taken with or without food, but take it the same way each time. Take in divided doses with meals if stomach upset occurs or if taking large daily dose (≥1000 mg). WARNING: Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Use caution and close perioperative (around the time of surgery) monitoring in surgical patients In addition to its desired action, SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, epithelial keratopathy (the deposition of calcium salts in the superficial layers of the cornea (eye)) It may cause pulmonary (lung) toxicity, fatigue, lack of coordination, constipation, headache Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to amiodarone, iodine, or any component of the formulation, some heart problems (check with your doctor). Taking SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.SDZ Amiodarone (Amiodarone)
