Description
SDZ Entacapone (Entacapone) is antiparkinsonian agent. It is typically used with other medications (levodopa-carbidopa or levodopa-benserazide) to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease (a brain disorder that leads to shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with walking, balance, and coordination). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Entacapone (Entacapone) is typically used once with each dose of levodopa and carbidopa, up to a maximum dose of 8 times daily (maximum dose: 1600 mg daily). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. May be administered with or without food. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with lower gastrointestinal disease (the last part of the digestive tract) or an increased risk of dehydration. Use with caution in the presence of sleep disorders or the use with sedating agents (substances that cause sedation), or ethanol, patients must be cautioned about performing tasks which require mental alertness. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular (heart) problems. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Always administer this drug with levodopa/carbidopa. In addition to its desired action, SDZ Entacapone (Entacapone) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, vomiting, headache. It may cause dyskinesia (abnormality or impairment of voluntary movement), urine discoloration. It may cause dizziness (weak or unsteady), fatigue, anxiety (a feeling of worry), fever. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to entacapone or any component of the formulation. Taking SDZ Entacapone (Entacapone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with SDZ Entacapone (Entacapone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
