Description
SDZ Hydroxyzine (Hydroxyzine) is an antihistaminic agent. It is typically used for the treatment as prepartum and postpartum adjunctive medication to permit reduction in opioid dosage, allay anxiety, and control emesis (the action or process of vomiting) and for the management of urticaria (hives). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Hydroxyzine (Hydroxyzine)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is usually given once daily and may give a second dose 4 hours after the first dose. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer SDZ Hydroxyzine (Hydroxyzine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma (high eye pressure). Use with caution in patients with prostate hyperplasia (prostate gland enlargement) and use with caution in patients having asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow, causing difficulty breathing) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (chronic lungs inflammation). These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, SDZ Hydroxyzine (Hydroxyzine) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause drowsiness, xerostomia (dry mouth) and skin rash. It may cause tremor, hallucination, headache and involuntary body movements. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to hydroxyzine or any component of the formulation, early pregnancy, heart problems, significant bradycardia (slow heart beat), family history of sudden heart death, asthmatics who have previously experienced a serious anti-histamine induced adverse lung effect, porphyria (a group of disorders that result from a buildup of natural chemicals that produce porphyrin in your body). Taking SDZ Hydroxyzine (Hydroxyzine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant, contact your family doctor.
