Description

SDZ Phentolamine (Phentolamine) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used to treat high blood pressure in patients with pheochromocytoma (a tumor that usually grows in the adrenal glands, above the kidneys). It may also have other uses.

SDZ Phentolamine (Phentolamine)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer SDZ Phentolamine (Phentolamine) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular (heart) disease. Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment. Use with caution in patients with gastritis or peptic ulcer (a lesion in the lining of the digestive tract).
In addition to its desired action, SDZ Phentolamine (Phentolamine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause hypotension (low blood pressure), abnormal heart rate, tachycardia (high resting heart rate). It may cause abdominal discomfort, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest pain, anorexia (an eating disorder characterized by weight loss). Contraindications: Myocardial infarction (death of the cells of an area of the heart muscle as a result of oxygen deprivation), history of myocardial infarction, coronary insufficiency (insufficient blood flow through one or more coronary arteries), angina (chest pain) or other evidence suggestive of coronary artery disease (when the major blood vessels that supply your heart become damaged or diseased), low blood pressure, hypersensitivity to phentolamine or related compounds.
Taking SDZ Phentolamine (Phentolamine) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
