Description
Simponi (Golimumab) is an antirheumatic agent. It is typically used to treat some types of arthritis (a condition that causes pain and inflammation in a joint). It may also have other uses.

Simponi (Golimumab) dosage varies based on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have recommended a schedule that suits you better. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. After proper training in subcutaneous injection (under the skin) technique, patients may self-inject if their doctor determines it is appropriate, with necessary medical follow-up. Patients should be instructed to inject the full amount of the drug. If multiple injections are needed, they should be given at different sites on the body. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with heart failure, a condition where the heart doesn't pump enough blood. Use with caution in elderly patients. Patients receiving golimumab have an increased risk of serious infections, which may lead to hospitalization and/or death. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause constipation, dizziness, nausea, fever, or injection site reactions. It may cause infection, high blood pressure, and a skin rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to golimumab or any other component of the formulation, patients with severe infections, or moderate to severe heart conditions failure. Animal reproduction studies have not shown a risk to the fetus, and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
