Description
Soliqua (Insulin Glargine Lixisenatide) is an antidiabetic agent. It is typically used to use together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high). It may also have other uses.

Soliqua (Insulin Glargine Lixisenatide) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Patients and caregivers should receive proper training prior to first use of SOLIQUA. Administration is a subcutaneous (under the skin) injection either in the abdomen, deltoid, or thigh. Rotate injection sites for each dose, do not use the same site for each injection. Administer within one hour before the first meal of the day. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. Use with caution in patient with renal (kidney) problems. Use with caution in patients at risk for hypokalemia (deficiency of potassium in the bloodstream). In addition to its desired action, Soliqua (Insulin Glargine Lixisenatide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause hypoglycemia (a fall in blood sugar to levels below normal), diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. It may cause injection site reaction, headache, dizziness, change in vision. It may cause cough, runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, urinary tract infection. Contraindications: History of serious hypersensitivity to insulin glargine, lixisenatide, or any component of the formulation, during episodes of hypoglycemia. Taking Soliqua (Insulin Glargine Lixisenatide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Soliqua (Insulin Glargine Lixisenatide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
