Description
Suprax (Cefixime) is an antibiotic. It is typically used for the treatment of different types of infections including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, pharyngitis (an inflammation of the pharynx) and tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils), uncomplicated cervical or urethral gonorrhea (sexually transmitted bacteria). It may also have other uses.

Suprax (Cefixime)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is typically given once to twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: Severe skin reactions, severe allergic reactions have been reported. Prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (a second infection superimposed on an earlier one). Immunity related anemia (a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues). Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Use with caution in patients with a history of stomach disease. These events may occur at anytime during therapy and without warning. In addition to its desired action, Suprax (Cefixime) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea and dyspepsia (a pain or an uncomfortable feeling in the upper middle part of your stomach area) It may cause flatulence (the accumulation of gas in the alimentary canal) and loose stools. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to cefixime, any component of the formulation, or other cephalosporins or penicillins (antibiotics). Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Suprax (Cefixime) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
