Description

Synalar (Fluocinolone) is a corticosteroid agent. It is typically used to treat a variety of skin conditions (e.g., eczema, which is a group of conditions that make your skin inflamed or irritated, but also allergies, rash.). Fluocinolone reduces the swelling, itching, and redness that can occur in these types of conditions. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Synalar (Fluocinolone) is typically used three to four times daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Apply sparingly in a thin film, rub in lightly. In hairy sites, the hair should be parted to allow direct contact with the lesion. Occlusive dressings may be helpful in managing psoriasis or recalcitrant conditions, but should not be used if an infection develops.
WARNING: Children may absorb larger amounts after topical application and may be more prone to side effects. Not for oral, ophthalmic (eye), or intravaginal use, do not apply to the face, groin, or diaper area unless directed by healthcare provider. Use the least amount needed to cover the affected area, discontinue when control is achieved. If improvement is not seen within 2 weeks, reassess.
In addition to its desired action, Synalar (Fluocinolone) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause stinging, burning, itching, irritation
It may cause dryness, peeling, redness at the application site when Synalar (Fluocinolone) is first applied to the skin
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to fluocinolone or any component of the formulation Taking Synalar (Fluocinolone) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Synalar (Fluocinolone) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
