Description

Taltz (Ixekizumab enhanced syringe) is a monoclonal antibody agent. It is typically used for the treatment of active ankylosing spondylitis (a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the spine and sacroiliac joints (link your pelvis and lower spine) and often other joints (as of the shoulder) and that is marked by pain and stiffness) in adult patients, the treatment of active non radiographic axial spondyloarthritis (a type of arthritis in your spine. It causes inflammation, which leads to symptoms like redness, swelling, heat, stiffness, and pain), treatment of moderate to severe plaque psoriasis (a skin disease that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp) in adult and the treatment of active psoriatic arthritis (the swelling and tenderness of one or more of your joints) in adult patients. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Taltz (Ixekizumab enhanced syringe)'s dosage depends on the condition (usual range: 80 mg - 160 mg). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact the pharmacist. Allow to reach room temperature prior to injection (30 minutes). Do not shake. Inject full amount into the upper arms, thighs, or any quadrant of the abdomen, administer each injection at a different anatomic location than a previous injection and avoid areas where the skin is tender, bruised, erythematous (red), indurated, or affected by psoriasis. Administration in the upper, outer arm may be performed by a caregiver or healthcare provider. Ixekizumab is intended for use under the guidance and supervision of a physician, may be self-injected by the patient or caregiver following proper training in SubQ (under the skin) injection technique.
WARNING: May increase the risk of infections. Patients should be evaluated for tuberculosis (bacterial infection) infection prior to initiating therapy, do not initiate therapy in patients with an active tuberculosis infection.
In addition to its desired action, Taltz (Ixekizumab enhanced syringe) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause cold-like symptoms, eczema (e.g., dry, flaky skin, red, irritated patches of skin)
It may cause flu-like symptoms, headache, diarrhea
Contraindications: Serious hypersensitivity reaction to ixekizumab or any component of the formulation
Taking Taltz (Ixekizumab enhanced syringe) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. There is no available data regarding the harm of Taltz (Ixekizumab enhanced syringe) for the fetus, therefore it is not recommended to use it. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
