Use with caution in patients with a history of penicillin allergy, kidney disease (dose may be adjusted), or a history of antibiotic-associated colitis (pseudomembranous colitis) which causes severe, bloody diarrhea. It may cause vulvovaginal infection (itching and irritation in the vagina and vulva, burning sensation, especially during intercourse or while urinating.) Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
