Description

Taro Docusate (Docusate) is a stool softener. It is typically used to treat constipation. It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Taro Docusate (Docusate) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer this drug at bedtime with a full glass of water or juice.
WARNING: chronic use or overdosage of a stool softener may produce persistent diarrhea, hypokalemia (low potassium levels), loss of essential nutritional factors, and dehydration.
In addition to its desired action, Taro Docusate (Docusate) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause stomach pain, cramping.
It may cause diarrhea, rash.
It may cause hypokalemia (low potassium levels).
Contraindications: When used for self-medication, do not use for longer than 7 days, when abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting is present, or concomitantly with mineral oil (a stool softener agent).
Taking Taro Docusate (Docusate) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
