Description

Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) is an immune response modifier. It is typically used to treat adults with external genital and perianal warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). The external genital area includes skin surfaces on and around the vagina or penis. The perianal area includes skin surfaces surrounding the anus (the opening through which fecal matter is passed). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) is typically used by applying it to the affected area, 3 times a week just before going to bed. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Before applying the cream, wash your hands with soap and water, and gently wash the treatment area with mild soap and water and allow the skin to dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) onto the clean, dry wart area and rub gently into the skin until the cream is absorbed. Do not use the cream in your vagina. Wash your hands after using the medication. Do not apply an occlusive dressing (made of airtight material) over Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod). Do not apply this mediation inside the vagina or inside the anus (the opening through which fecal matter is passed). Leave the medication on the skin area for 8 hours, and then remove it by washing the treated area with mild soap and water. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: Avoid sexual contact while the cream is on your skin. This medication may weaken condoms and vaginal diaphragms, therefore, wash off This medication prior to using these barrier methods of birth control or use an alternate form of birth control. Some people using imiquimod cream notice that the area where the cream was applied has become lighter or darker. Sometimes the change in skin color is permanent. If you experience a severe skin reaction to this cream, wash the area with mild soap and water. Once the reaction has cleared, start using the cream again, unless your doctor has told you to stop using it.

In addition to its desired action, Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause blistering on skin, burning or stinging of skin (mild), hardening of skin, pain or irritation at the site of application.
It may cause diarrhea, fatigue, back or joint pain, nausea, or headache.
It may cause flaking or peeling of skin, lightened or darkened skin color where skin is treated, or skin itching.
It may cause vaginal infection (symptoms may include itching, burning, or discharge).

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to imiquimod or any component of the formulation.

Taking Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Taro Imiquimod (Imiquimod)
