Description
Teva Acebutolol (Acebutolol) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) but not recommended as a first line therapy. It may also have other uses.

Teva Acebutolol (Acebutolol) is typically used twice daily for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) but not recommended as a first line therapy. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be administered without regards to meals. WARNING: Use reduced doses in elderly patients, concentrations of acebutolol are significantly higher in elderly patients. Dose should not exceed 800 mg/day. Acebutolol should not be withdrawn abruptly, but gradually tapered to avoid acute increase in heart rate and increase in blood pressure. Use caution with history of severe allergies, patients taking acebutolol may become more sensitive to repeated challenges. Use with caution in patients having liver, kidney or thyroid (gland in the neck) impairments. Acebutolol should be used with carefully in diabetic patients. In addition to its desired action, Teva Acebutolol (Acebutolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause nausea, vomiting, flatulence (gas), abdominal pain. It may cause fatigue, headache, skin rash, chest pain, and decrease in blood pressure. It may cause impotence, water retention. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to acebutolol, beta-blockers (similar agents), or any component of the formulation, cardiac (heart) blockage diseases, cardiac (heart) failure, decrease heart rate. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Teva Acebutolol (Acebutolol) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
