Description

Teva Liothyronine (Liothyronine) is a synthetic form of a hormone produced by the thyroid gland called triiodothyronine. It is typically used to treat mild to severe hypothyroidism (thyroid gland does not
produce enough hormone) or an enlarged thyroid gland (simple goiter). It may also have other uses.

Additional information

Teva Liothyronine (Liothyronine) is typically usually started with a low dose then increased gradually according to your response. It is to be taken once daily, usually before breakfast. Replacement thyroid hormone therapy usually needs to be taken for life. Your doctor may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist.

WARNING: This medication, like other thyroid hormones, should not be used for the treatment of obesity or for weight loss, either alone or with other medicines. At normal doses, liothyronine sodium tablet does not reduce body weight and at higher doses, it can produce serious or even life-threatening side effects.

It may cause headaches, confusion, dizziness, and trouble sleeping.
It may cause diarrhea, increased appetite, fast or irregular heartbeats.
It may cause fever, fatigue, sweating, menstrual changes, or weight loss.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to liothyronine or any component of the formulation, certain uncorrected problems of the adrenal glands, recent heart attack.

Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.

A treatment with Teva Liothyronine (Liothyronine) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Teva Liothyronine (Liothyronine)
