Ventolin Diskus (Salbutamol)

Ventolin Diskus (Salbutamol) is typically inhaled as needed. You can repeat the dose every 4 to 6 hours. A maximum of 4 inhalations in a 24 hour period is allowed. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. To activate the Diskus, slide the lever using the thumb grip away from them as far as it will go (click should be heard). Before inhaling the dose, breathe out fully, do not exhale into the Diskus device. Bring mouthpiece to lips and inhale steadily and deeply through the Diskus, hold breath for about 10 seconds or for as long as comfortable and exhale slowly. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. 

WARNING: If you are also using an inhaled corticosteroid, always use Ventolin Diskus first, wait a few minutes, then use your inhaled corticosteroid. Occasionally, inhaled medications such as Ventolin Diskus may cause the airways to spasm and close up, making breathing even more difficulty (bronchospasm) and can be life-threatening. This product may contain lactose. Use with caution in patients with diabetes (may increase blood sugar level), hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid, a gland in the neck), or seizure disorders. 

In addition to its desired action, Ventolin Diskus (Salbutamol) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause excitement, nervousness, trembling, or palpitations (rapid heartbeat). 
It may cause dizziness, headache, or trouble sleeping. 
It may cause infections of the respiratory tract (e.g., sore throat), increase blood pressure, chest pain, or nausea. 

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Salbutamol or any component of the formulation. Do not use this product in case of severe allergy to milk proteins.

Taking Ventolin Diskus (Salbutamol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
