Description
Visken (Pindolol) is an antihypertensive agent. It is typically used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and to prevent angina (chest pain). It may also have other uses.

Visken (Pindolol)'s dosage depends on the condition, it is typically used two or three times a day. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. It should be taken with food. WARNING: Bradycardia (slow heart rate) may be observed more frequently in elderly patients (>65 years of age), dosage reductions may be necessary. Pindolol therapy should not be withdrawn abruptly but gradually tapered over 1 to 2 weeks to avoid acute tachycardia (rapid heart rate), hypertension (high blood pressure). In addition to its desired action, Visken (Pindolol) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause water retention, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea. It may cause low blood pressure, cold extremities, difficulty sleeping. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to pindolol, other beta-blockers (similar agents) or any component of the formulation, respiratory diseases and cardiac (heart) blockage disease. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
