Description

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) is a vitamin supplement. It is typically used in the treatment of pernicious anemia (a decrease in red blood cells that occurs when the intestines cannot properly absorb vitamin B12) or vitamin B12 deficiency. It may also have other uses.

Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12)'s dosage depends on the condition being treated. Your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) to you in a hospital or clinical setting.
WARNING: Severe hypokalemia (a deficiency of potassium) reported in intensively treated patients with megaloblastic anemia (a condition in which the bone marrow produces unusually large, structurally abnormal, immature red blood cells). Monitor serum potassium concentrations during early vitamin B12 therapy and administer potassium if necessary.
In addition to its desired action, Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause headaches, infection, rhinitis (inflammation and swelling of the mucous membrane of the nose). It may cause nausea, skin rash, vomiting, arthralgia (pain in one or more joints), dizziness.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12), cobalt, or any component of the formulation.
Taking Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
