Description
Zejula (Niraparib) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used in adult women for the maintenance treatment of ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer (the membrane that lines the inside of the abdomen), and the maintenance treatment of ovarian cancer, fallopian tube cancer, or primary peritoneal cancer that has come back (reoccurred). It may also have other uses.

Zejula (Niraparib)'s dosage depends on the condition; it is usually given once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take with or without food at about the same time each day. Take Zejula (Niraparib) at bedtime if it upsets your stomach. This may help you manage nausea. WARNING: Only a doctor who has experience treating cancer should treat you with this drug. Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) or Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a problem with the bone marrow. You may have low red, white or platelet cell counts. This is serious and can lead to death. Zejula (Niraparib) can cause bone marrow problems. Zejula (Niraparib) can cause high blood pressure, which in some cases, can be severe. Zejula (Niraparib) can harm your unborn baby if you take it while you are pregnant. While taking Zejula (Niraparib), your skin may be more sensitive to the sun. You may burn more easily during treatment with Zejula (Niraparib). Avoid sun exposure. When in the sunlight, wear a sunscreen with a high protection factor of at least SPF 15 and protective clothing. Before you do tasks, which may require special attention, wait until you know how you respond to Zejula (Niraparib). If you feel dizzy, weak, unfocused or tired, do not drive or use tools or machines In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause pain in the stomach area, indigestion or heartburn, dry mouth, feeling tired or weak. It may cause loss of appetite, loss of weight, pain in your joints, muscles and back, headaches, feeling dizzy. It may cause changes in the way food tastes, trouble sleeping, anxiety and depression, inflammation of the nose and throat, shortness of breath, cough, rash. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Niraparib or any component of the medication; breast-feeding or plan to breastfeed; pregnancy. Taking this medication during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
