Zenhale (Mometasone Formoterol)

Zenhale (Mometasone Formoterol) is typically taken as 2 inhalations twice a day (morning and evening). However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It should be used regularly to receive the most benefit from the medication, even if no asthma (a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus, causing difficulty breathing) symptoms appear. Rinse your mouth and gargle with water after using the inhaler to help prevent thrush (yeast infection of the mouth) from developing. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. 
 
WARNING: This medication is not a reliever medication. If you start developing asthma symptoms, be sure to use your reliever medication for rapid relief of your asthma symptoms. Both formoterol and mometasone may cause an increase in blood sugar levels, use with caution in patients with diabetes. This medication may cause heart rhythm problems, use with caution in patients with heart disease. Long-term use of corticosteroids, including inhaled corticosteroids such as mometasone, may increase the risk of bone loss and osteoporosis (weakened bones, causing increased risk of fractures). 
 
In addition to its desired action, Zenhale (Mometasone Formoterol) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause disturbed sleep, dizziness, headache, nervousness, shakiness, and tremor. 
It may cause dry mouth, voice hoarseness, nausea, and sore throat. 
It may cause fainting, loss of bone density, muscle cramps, and rounded face.
It may cause oral thrush (a fungal infection in the mouth), blurred vision, fast or uneven heartbeat, and increased blood pressure. 
 
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to mometasone, formoterol, or any component of the formulation. Do not use in case of status asthmaticus (a sudden, severe asthma attack) or other acute episodes of asthma.
 
Taking Zenhale (Mometasone Formoterol) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
