Description
Zoladex (Goserelin) is an anticancer agent. It is typically used for the for the treatment of prostate cancer (a form of cancer that begins in the gland cells of the prostate, which is found only in males) in men. It is also used to treat endometriosis (a condition in which tissue that is normally only in the uterus (the hollow, muscular organ of women in which the embryo develops) grows outside of the uterus) in women. It may also have other uses.

Zoladex (Goserelin) is typically used once every 28 days. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Your doctor or nurse will administer Zoladex (Goserelin) to you in a hospital or clinical setting. WARNING: Before you receive Zoladex, tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis (a disease that weakens bones to the point where they break easily), diabetes (a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high), urination problems, a history of heart problems, risk factors for coronary artery disease (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, or being overweight), or if you have abnormal bleeding that your doctor has not checked. In addition to its desired action, Zoladex (Goserelin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, nausea, "hot flushes" (sudden sweating and feeling of warmth). It may cause swelling at the injection site, shortness of breath, hair loss. It may cause hallucinations, headache, decreased sexual interest, mood swings. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to goserelin or any component of the formulation, during pregnancy for the treatment of endometriosis (a condition in which tissue that is normally only in the uterus (the hollow, muscular organ of women in which the embryo develops) grows outside of the uterus), breastfeeding, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding. Taking Zoladex (Goserelin) during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Zoladex (Goserelin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.Zoladex (Goserelin)
