Description
Burinex (Bumetanide) is a diuretic agent. It is typically used to reduce extra fluid in the body (edema) caused by conditions such as heart failure (a condition that develops when your heart doesn’t pump enough blood for the body’s needs), liver disease, and kidney disease. It may also have other uses.

Burinex (Bumetanide) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with or without food. This drug may cause you to pass urine more often. To keep from having sleep problems, try not to take this drug at bedtime. WARNING: Burinex is a strong diuretic (drug that increases the flow of urine). Diuretics are also known as “water pills.” Taking too much Burinex can cause you to lose too much water and too many electrolytes (electrolytes are essential minerals like sodium, calcium, and potassium). You must be supervised by a doctor while taking this drug. Taking Burinex may cause liver damage. Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems. In addition to its desired action, Burinex (Bumetanide) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause muscle cramps, dizziness, low blood pressure, headache, nausea. It may cause loss of water and electrolytes, electrolyte imbalance (abnormality in the concentration of electrolytes in the body), irregular heartbeats. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to bumetanide or any component of the formulation, anuria (anuria occurs when the kidneys aren't producing urine), hepatic coma (decline in brain function that occurs as a result of severe liver disease), patients in states of severe electrolyte depletion. Taking Burinex (Bumetanide) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Burinex (Bumetanide) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
