Description
Invokana (Canagliflozin) is an antidiabetic agent. It is typically used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high). It may also have other uses.

Invokana (Canagliflozin) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It is best to take INVOKANA before the first meal of the day. WARNING: Canagliflozin may increase your risk of lower leg amputation, especially if you have had a prior amputation, a foot ulcer, heart disease, circulation problems, or nerve damage. Monitor patients receiving INVOKANA for infections or ulcers of the lower limbs, and discontinue if these occur. In addition to its desired action, Invokana (Canagliflozin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal pain, constipation, headache, nausea, thirst, urinary tract infection, increased urination It may cause hypotension (low blood pressure), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level). Contraindications: If you are allergic to canagliflozin or any ingredients of Invokana (Canagliflozin) or if you are receiving dialysis (treatment for kidney failure). Taking Invokana (Canagliflozin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Invokana (Canagliflozin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
