Description
Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin) is an antidiabetic agent. It is typically used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high). It may also have other uses.

Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug with food. WARNING: Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious problem that occurs due to metformin accumulation (i.e., the body doesn't get rid of the medication fast enough) during treatment. since alcohol may increase the risk of lactic acidosis, do not drink a lot of alcohol over the short or long term while taking Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin). If you experience symptoms of lactic acidosis (e.g., weakness, tiredness, drowsiness, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing, stomach pain with nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, feeling cold, dizziness, lightheadedness, slow or irregular heartbeat), stop Taking Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin) and get immediate medical attention. This drug may increase your risk of lower leg amputation, especially if you have had a prior amputation, a foot ulcer, heart disease, circulation problems, or nerve damage. Monitor patients receiving INVOKAMET for infections or ulcers of the lower limbs, and discontinue if these occur. In addition to its desired action, Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, gas, headache. It may cause heartburn or indigestion, loss of appetite, urinary tract infection, more frequent urination. It may cause nausea, rash or hives, thirst, vomiting. Contraindications: History of serious hypersensitivity to canagliflozin, metformin, or any component of the formulation, severe renal (kidney) impairment or patients on dialysis (treatment for kidney failure), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (a serious electrolyte disorder characterized by an imbalance in the body's acid-base balance). Taking Invokamet (Canagliflozin Metformin) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor.
