Description
Taro Clarithromycin (Clarithromycin) is an antibiotic. It is typically used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, intestines, ears, skin, and throat. It may also have other uses.

Taro Clarithromycin (Clarithromycin) is typically used twice daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without meals. Shake suspension well before each use. WARNING: Long-term use of Clarithromycin may cause it not to work anymore in the future (resistance), more bacteria and fungi to grow (superinfection), and bacteria that do not die (resistance). Clarithromycin only treats bacterial infections, not viral infections such as the common cold. In the case of kidney disease, the dose should be modified accordingly. Patients who have or have had QT prolongation (an abnormal electrical activity of the heart) or an abnormal heart rhythm or have untreated hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood) should not use Clarithromycin. In addition to its desired action, Taro Clarithromycin (Clarithromycin) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause changes in the sense of taste (dysgeusia), diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting. It may cause abnormal liver function tests. It may cause fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, vagina, or urinary tract. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Clarithromycin or any component of the formulation or other macrolide antibiotic (e.g., Erythromycin, azithromycin). Do not use this product if you have a history of cholestatic jaundice (yellow discoloration of skin and/or eyes) or liver problems after using Clarithromycin. Do not use Clarithromycin if you are currently taking Cisapride, pimozide, Ergot alkaloids (e.g., Ergotamine, Dihydroergotamine), Lomitapide, or Hmg - CoA reductase inhibitors (e.g., Lovastatin, Simvastatin). Do not use Clarithromycin if you are taking Colchicine and suffer from kidney or liver problems. A treatment with Taro Clarithromycin (Clarithromycin) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
