Additional information
Liberte sterilet TT380 stand 10 years (Copper IUD) is typically inserted for up to 10 years. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. The doctor can prescribe and insert an IUD within the same visit, he will check the size and position of the uterus (major organ of the female reproductive system). The doctor puts a speculum (medical tool) into the vagina so that he can see the cervix (the lower part of the uterus) and check for any infection. Usually freezing is used with a local anesthetic prior to insertion of the IUD. Most women feel a pinching feeling and may experience cramps for a few minutes when the IUD is inserted. Taking ibuprofen an hour before an IUD placement helps reduce cramping. The best time to insert an IUD is during or just after a period, but it can be inserted anytime, as long as you are not pregnant. WARNING: Menstrual bleeding patterns may be altered with use of the IUD. Unexplained vaginal bleeding should be evaluated prior to insertion. If bleeding irregularities develop during use, appropriate diagnostic measures should be taken to rule out endometrial pathology (abnormality of the lining of the uterus) or displacement of the device. Use caution in patients with severe thrombocytopenia (is a condition in which you have a low blood platelet count. Platelets are colorless blood cells that help blood clot) who may be at risk of spontaneous bleeding. If pregnancy occurs with the device in place, evaluate for an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy that happens outside of the uterus). may be used in patients with a history of ectopic pregnancy. In addition to its desired action, this medication may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause cramping, bleeding between periods, and severe menstrual pain. It may cause pain when your IUD is put in, and cramping or back aches for a few days after. It may cause abdominal pain, vaginal inflammation, anemia (a condition in which you lack enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues). Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to copper or any component of the formulation, pregnancy or suspicion of pregnancy, abnormalities of the uterus resulting in distortion of the uterine cavity, acute pelvic inflammatory disease (an infection of one or more of the upper reproductive organs), postpartum endometritis (infection of the the inner lining of the uterus after childbirth) in the past 3 months, known or suspected uterine malignancy (cancers of the uterus) or cervical malignancy (cervical cancer starts in the cells lining the cervix), uterine bleeding of unknown etiology, conditions associated with increased susceptibility to pelvic infections, untreated acute cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix) or vaginitis (inflammation of the vagina) or other lower genital tract infection, Wilson disease (disorder of copper metabolism which leads to copper overload in different tissues of the body), a previously placed IUD that has not been removed. Taking this medication during pregnancy is contraindicated and harmful for the baby. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with this medication requires regular monitoring by a doctor. Be sure to see your doctor for all regularly scheduled appointments.
