Description
Revolade (Eltrombopag) is an hematopoietic agent (agent that improves the quality of the blood). It is typically used to treat low platelet count (involved in clotting) due to chronic idiopathic (unknown cause) thrombocytopenic purpura (an immune disorder in which the blood doesn’t clot normally) or chronic hepatitis C virus infection (liver inflammation, sometimes leading to serious liver damage). It may also have other uses.

Revolade (Eltrombopag) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Take this drug on an empty stomach or with a low-calcium (≤50 mg) meal. WARNING: This medication may increase the risk of severe and potentially life-threatening hepatotoxicity (liver toxicity). Use with caution in patients with hepatic (liver) problems, monitor hepatic function and discontinue dosing as recommended. Use with caution in patients at risk for cataracts (a clouding of the normally clear lens of your eye). Use with caution in patients with known risk factors for thromboembolism (obstruction of a blood vessel by a blood clot). Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) problems. In addition to its desired action, Revolade (Eltrombopag) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause abnormal hepatic (liver) function tests, upper respiratory tract infections (coughing, runny nose, sneezing and throat pain), nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and pharynx). It may cause diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection. It may cause joint pain, dry eyes, skin rash, hair loss, cough, back pain, fever. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to eltrombopag or any component of the formulation, severe hepatic (liver) impairment. Taking Revolade (Eltrombopag) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Revolade (Eltrombopag) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
