Description
Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) is a combination of two antiretroviral drugs. It is typically used to treat HIV (human immunodeficiency virus infection which is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system). HIV is the virus responsible for acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). This medication is also used for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), in combination with safer sex practices, to help reduce the risk of getting HIV infection for adults at high risk. It may also have other uses.

Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) is typically used once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often, than prescribed. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. Administer with or without food. WARNING: If you are using Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) for PrEP you will need to undergo screening for HIV before starting Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) and every 3 months while taking Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir). Emtricitabine - tenofovir may weaken bones. Your doctor may monitor your bone mass while you are taking Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir), especially if you are at risk for bone fracture or for disease of the bone. This medication may cause an increase in blood sugar levels. People with diabetes may find it necessary to monitor their blood sugar more frequently while using Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir). Use with caution in patients with kidney and liver disease. In addition to its desired action, Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause weight loss, headaches, stomach pain It may cause abnormal or unusual dreams, dizziness, trouble sleeping It may cause gas, indigestion, diarrhea, vomiting Contraindications: Hypersensitivity (severe allergy) to emtricitabine, tenofovir, or any component of the formulation, as preexposure prophylaxis in patients with unknown or HIV-1 positive status. Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Emtricitabine Tenofovir (Emtricitabine Tenofovir) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
