Description
Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release) is an antidiabetic agent. It is typically used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar levels by adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may also have other uses.

Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release) is typically taken once daily. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. It should be taken with breakfast or with the first main meal of the day. Swallow the whole tablet. Important: Follow the instructions on the label. Do not use more of this product, or more often than prescribed. Do not chew or crush Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release). If you miss a dose, contact your pharmacist. WARNING: Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disease (dose may be adjusted). Gliclazide may cause severe hypoglycemia (lower blood sugar level). Use with caution. In addition to its desired action, Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release) may cause some side effects, notably: It may cause severe low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), increased blood pressure (hypertension), chest pain, or swelling of arms or legs. It may cause diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, or nausea. It may cause skin rash, increased sensitivity to sun, or itching. It may cause back pain, muscle or joint pain. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to Gliclazide, other similar agents, or any component of the formulation, sulfa allergy, unstable and/or type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma (a serious complication of diabetes caused by high levels of blood acids called ketones), severe kidney or liver impairment, stress conditions (e.g., serious infection, trauma, surgery), concurrent use with Miconazole (systemic or oral gel), pregnancy, breastfeeding. Taking Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release) during pregnancy may be harmful for the baby. Women of childbearing potential should use an effective contraceptive method. Pregnant women should not use this product. If you're planning a pregnancy or become pregnant or breastfeeding, contact your family doctor. A treatment with Apo Gliclazide MR (Gliclazide modified-release) requires regular monitoring by a doctor.
