Description

Vaqta (Hepatitis A vaccine) typically used for the prevention of hepatitis A disease (liver disease caused by a virus).

Additional information

Vaqta (Hepatitis A vaccine) is typically given as a single pediatric dose and the second dose should be given 6 to 18 months after the first dose. However, your doctor or pharmacist may have suggested a different schedule that is more appropriate for you. If you forget a dose, contact your pharmacist. It will be given to you by a doctor or nurse in a hospital or clinical setting. It will be injected into a muscle.
WARNING: Syncope (fainting) has been reported with use of injectable vaccines and may result in serious secondary injury
In addition to its desired action, Vaqta (Hepatitis A vaccine) may cause some side effects, notably:
It may cause diarrhea, drowsiness, fatigue
It may cause fever, generally feeling unwell, headache
It may cause irritability, loss of appetite, muscle or joint achiness
Contraindications: Immediate and/or severe allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to hepatitis A containing vaccines or any component of the formulation, including neomycin.
